Punter Misses Out On £29,000 After Nottingham Forest's Third Goal Over Newcastle United

So close.

A punter was inches away from winning £30,000 from last night's Carabao Cup matches but missed out thanks to a late Nottingham Forest goal over Newcastle United.

Former Newcastle player Daryl Murphy opened the scoring for Forest, before Salomón Rondón levelled for the Magpies. Late-on, the home side went ahead through Matty Cash, while Gil Dias snatched the ball of Kenedy in his own half and got his side a third in the 97th minute, meaning the punter missed out on the cash.

The punter bet on four matches, and had predicted the first three correctly, and just had the Newcastle-Nottingham game to go, with his prediction being 2-1.

But in the dying embers of the match, Dias' chip over former Forest player Karl Darlow meant that the punter missed out on a huge payout.

The punter posted his miss on social media and the company he used, SkyBet, waded in with this remark.

There are the standard calls for the punter, Danny Turner, to be paid out some of the money for getting so close - while others feel that a bet is a bet, and he shouldn't be paid anything.

Surely he deserves some cash for getting so near? Let us know your thoughts in the comments
