Germany came up against a menacing force on Tuesday. No, we're not talking about the France national team. We're talking specifically about N'Golo Kanté.

Yes, the 27-year-old Chelsea midfielder is a commanding presence on the pitch for both his club and country.

After all, we've all heard that important saying before: "70 per cent of the Earth's surface is covered by water -- the rest is covered by N'Golo Kanté."

Well, the Frenchman showed why he lived up to that claim when he absolutely bossed Timo Werner off the ball -- someone who is both heavier and taller than him.

Just check it out below.

What an absolute tank.

Germany took on France in their latest UEFA Nations League match.

This summer's World Cup winners suffered an opening setback when the Germans took the lead through a Toni Kroos penalty.

Didier Deschamps's side pulled one back in the second-half through Antoine Griezmann's Puskás Award-worthy header. The 27-year-old Atlético Madrid forward sealed the victory for Les Bleus when he slotted home a penalty.

"I made the decision [to change tactics] because we were not compact enough," Deschamps told Goal (via 90min). "I wanted to avoid being opened up like we were in the first-half hour and the performance in the second-half resolved this problem.

"It is our solidity which makes us strong, even if it is Hugo [Lloris] who keeps us in the game at times. With the players I have, I can tinker without losing our qualities.

"This German team were interesting, their three central players posed us problems with their speed.

"They could have hurt us more because they had more chances than us in the first-half, but my players do not give up, even during a complicated evening like tonight."

France remains top of Group A in the Nations League, while Germany are bottom and Joachim Löw's side carry on their poor form in 2018.

What will it take for Germany to turn things around?
