Usain Bolt has never been quiet about his love for football. The Jamaican sprinter might have called it time on his career in athletics, but that's not stopped him from living out his dream as a professional footballer -- and it seems that he could be tipped for big success.

Vicente del Bosque believes that Bolt could make it in football, but his team needs to take advantage of the sprinter's core strength: his unbelievable sprint speed and pace.

So, what position does the former Spain coach consider the ideal fit for Bolt?

Press Association

His answer was full-back.

"With space, he could be a very good footballer," he told the Olympic Channel (via Diario AS).

"He could be a full-back that covers a lot of space, but it depends, because it's not just about covering 100, or 60 or 70 metres of the pitch.

"It's about doing it many times over and that requires stamina, which I don't know whether he has or not -- although I'm sure he has prepared.

Press Association

"Without a doubt as a full-back, with his back towards the crowd and the touchline, that's where he would be most useful."

Lightning Bolt is trying to make his football breakthrough with Central Coast Mariners.

He made his debut as a substitute in a friendly match against Central Coast Select XI in the summer.

Bolt was played out on the wing for the match, but it's not surprising if he adapted to a wing-back role or, as the former Real Madrid boss suggested, becomes an all-out full-back.

Press Association

Bolt is preparing to start his career at the age of 32, which isn't exactly the prime age for any newcomer.

In fact, del Bosque didn't overlook that area one bit.

"To start playing professional football at the age of 32 isn't normal," he said.

"It's difficult because despite being in peak physical condition, I believe that the technical part is the fundamental part of football. A player's fantastic conditioning -- being fast, agile, powerful -- should support the technical ability.

"He will probably learn the tactical side and get to understand the game better both defensively and offensively.

"I'm sure he will find a solution to all of that, but the most difficult part will be to acquire the technical skills you need for any play. Control, passing, dribbling, a good touch on the ball, skills that you normally have had since childhood."

Do you think Bolt will make it in football?
