Some interesting developments with the Football Manager franchise.

Football Manager has grown a massive cult following in recent years. The possibility of it ending, for some, is just too much to bare.

The game has been the intellectual choice for football-loving gamers for some time but the franchise's future has been thrown into doubt today, following it's actions on social media.

Miles Jacobson, the game's director, posted a tweet of a collection of pictures of games in which Football Manager has released over time. "End of an era", he said in a post.

The Twitter account of the game itself then retweeted this, saying: "More details to come tomorrow..."

It's fair to say that people aren't taking the news too well.

Football Manager has gathered such a large following in recent years that publications like The Set Pieces have even created entire article series about the game.

On Football Twitter, jokes and memes are centred around the mechanics of the game. We're sure this isn't the end, and that something else is going to spring up, something surely will - it just has to.

It's going to be a long night, regardless. We don't want to see our beloved game leave.
