Fantasy Football Tips For The End Of Season Run-In

We're in the business end of the season...

It's the business end of the Fantasy Premier League season with just seven gameweeks to go. The double gameweeks are just around the corner and bragging rights are up for grabs among mini-league rivals.

The @FPLGeneral is a Fantasy Premier League veteran having played the game for over ten years, finishing in the top 1% in the world rankings for the past four seasons, including back-to-back top 500 finishes in 2014/15 and 2015/16. He's having another stellar season, boasting a current overall rank of 1,342 out of 5.85 million players. He's got his eyes set on a third top 500 finish in four seasons.

In his first fantasy football article for SPORTbible, the General tips one player from each of the six Premier League teams who have two double gameweeks between now and the end of the season. These six teams should be the focus of your transfers to maximise points potential in the upcoming gameweeks.

David De Gea (£5.9m) - Manchester United

As well as being the best goalkeeper in the premier league, Dave is also the best Fantasy Premier League goalkeeper this season with 144 points accumulated thanks to his 15 clean sheets. United have a nice run-in barring Man City in GW33 and Arsenal in GW37.

It's not just clean sheet potential that the Spanish stopper offers as he ranks fourth in the league for saves made in 2017/18. Goalkeepers from the bigger clubs don't usually rank highly in the 'saves made' table but De Gea is bucking that trend this season which makes him an even more attractive FPL option.

Harry Kane (£12.7m) - Tottenham Hotspur

Mauricio Pochettino refused to rule Kane out of this weekend's fixture against Chelsea in Thursday's pre-match press conference. Whenever the Englishman does return to action, Fantasy Football managers will be ripping up their teams to fit the most expensive player in the game back in.

Kane will want to get back on the pitch as soon as possible to try catch Mohamed Salah in the race for the golden boot. We all know what he offers, when he's fit, he's a must-have.

Marcos Alonso (£7.2m) - Chelsea

Alonso is the dream defender for Fantasy Football managers. He thinks he's a striker. He's the top scoring defender in the game this season with 144 points and it's no surprise given his attacking qualities. He spends more time in the opposition half than he does his in his own in most games.

The Spaniard has scored 6 goals to date and he's easy capable of reaching 10 by the season's end. When it comes to goal attempts among defenders this season, Alonso is on 55. His closest challenger is Nicolas Otamendi on 28.

Riyad Mahrez (£8.9m) - Leicester City

The Algerian has been back to his brilliant best in recent weeks. His antics following transfer deadline day seem to be forgotten. The best way to get the fans back on side is doing the business on the pitch and that's exactly what he's done in his last two games, scoring twice, and providing one assist.

The Foxes are another side who have a great run of fixtures between now and the end of the season. I'm expecting more explosive performances from Mahrez as he puts himself in the shop window for a summer move away from the King Power Stadium.

Pascal Groß (£6.0m) - Brighton

Groß has proven to be good value in Fantasy Premier League this season and he's still reasonably priced at £6.0m (he was £5.5m initially). He's got 13 attacking returns (5 goals and 8 assists) in 30 league appearances so far. He's one of the best set-piece takers in the league andis also a goal threat from open play.

Brighton's run-in isn't kind with games against United, City, Liverpool and Spurs to come but the classy German is a player who can trump the tricky fixtures and deliver the fantasy points.

Charlie Austin (£5.8m) - Southampton

Austin is pushing for a start against West Ham this weekend following a long spell on the sidelines. He scored on his last premier league appearance, the 1-1 draw with Huddersfield back in December. He's the 3rd striker we all crave. If he returns soon and proves his fitness, he' going to be in a lot of FPL teams for the final few gameweek's.

No matter what happens this season, he'll forever be a Fantasy Football legend for scoring 18 goals and providing 8 assists playing for a QPR team who got relegated in 2014/15.
