He had a nightmare.

Romelu Lukaku is probably going to leave Everton this summer for a very big transfer fee.

His performances in recent years under the likes of Ronald Koeman and Roberto Martinez have been very good, so is it any surprise?

Chelsea have been strongly linked with a bid for the Belgian forward, but are not ready to meet Everton's asking price of £100 million.

It is believed, however, that he may leave for £80 million.

To say that Everton bought Lukaku from Chelsea for just £28 million back in 2014 is some profit for the Toffees.

Many have questioned whether the 24-year-old is worth such a huge fee. Lukaku has scored 85 goals since 2012/13, a magnificent record that only Aguero can beat.

Lukaku has in the past been slated for his lack of consistency, with the claim that he fails to perform on the big stage a regular debate among football fans on social media.

But the Everton striker's performance for his country on Friday night has been another talking point.

Belgium came up against Estonia in a World Cup qualifier, and Lukaku didn't exactly impress on the night, failing to find the net in a comfortable 2-0 win.

Here are Lukaku's highlights everybody is talking about:

It is thought Lukaku will join the Premier League champions this summer, after Eden Hazard dropped a massive hint about his international teammates impending future.

While conducting an interview with Belgian outlet Het Nieuwsblad, Hazard said the following,"If I sign a contract, maybe there won't be enough money left to get Romelu!"

Before backtracking by saying, "I'm kidding. Whoever comes in, we'll be ready for the new season."

Interesting.

The prospect of losing a key player doesn't phase Ronald Koeman who recalls a moment at PSV.

"In my career, we lost one time Ruud Gullit in PSV and everybody was afraid."

"And we signed other new players and won, in 1988, the championship, the Cup, the European Cup. That is football."

"Of course, you like to keep your best striker, your top scorer, but we also need around that position more productivity. I said before maybe you lose at one side something, but I am not talking about what will happen if he does not stay next season."

Will Lukaku make a sensational return to Stamford Bridge?
