Stoke City's Jese Rodriguez won a vital penalty in the final minutes of today's game against Brighton & Hove Albion but in a moment of madness, this ordinarily positive situation escalated into disaster.

Rodriguez demanded that he take the spot kick in the dying embers of Saturday's match at the Bet365 Stadium, but midfielder Charlie Adam, who is Stoke's regular penalty taker, took responsibility and planted the ball on the spot.

Jese proceeded to throw his hands in the air, slapping his chest in frustration.

Moments later, Charlie Adam proceeded to miss the spot kick and people immediately began to point the finger at Jese for putting unnecessary pressure on the 32-year-old midfielder.

Stoke picked up a single point against Chris Hughton's side and plenty vented their frustrations at Jese, who's actions could cost Stoke their Premier League status, according to BT Sport pundit Chris Sutton.

"I think there will be a lot of Stoke players in that dressing room going after Jesé. It could cost Stoke their Premier League status."
