Big news for United fans...

It's the news that will have Manchester United fans rejoicing and dancing on the street. Reports say that David De Gea has committed his future by signing a new contract with the club, quashing the usual Real Madrid transfer talk that seems to come around every transfer window.

Samuel Luckhurst from the Manchester Evening News says the Spain No.1 has put pen to paper on a new five-year deal at Old Trafford.

A 20-year old De Gea struggled initially after joining United from Atletico Madrid as he took time to adjust the physical English game.

But fast forward seven years and De Gea is arguably the best goalkeeper in world football, regularly producing jaw-dropping stops and saving the Red Devils on countless number of occasions.

He deservedly picked up United's Player of the Year award for 2017/18 and also scooped his first ever Premier League Golden Glove award after keeping 18 clean sheets in what was his best season.

His importance to United cannot be overstated and you wonder just where they would be had that fax machine worked properly on the 2015 transfer deadline day.

Jose Mourinho is expected to bring in plenty of new faces into his squad for the 2018/19 campaign but in tying down the backbone of his side, he appears to have already completed the best bit of business this summer.

United fans will look forward to many more awe-inspiring displays in between the sticks from DDG.
