Data Analyst's Final Premier League Table Makes For Very Interesting Reading

Data Analyst's Final Premier League Table Makes For Very Interesting Reading

There are only eleven games to go now...

We've had all sorts of 'supercomputers' predicting the final Premier League title and now a data analyst has had a stab at forecasting how it will all play out.

Nate Silver, who has a whopping 3.2 million followers on Twitter, carried out thorough research with probabilities prior to determining how the table will look once all the games have been played.

And his predictions for FiveThirtyEight see Manchester City retain their Premier League crown - Pep Guardiola's side denying Liverpool their first title courtesy of their superior goal difference.

His table has both City and Liverpool finish level on points, but despite losing three more games, City are 13 goals better off and win the league on goal difference for the second time.

Tottenham take third spot on 79 points, with Chelsea claiming the final Champions League spot by beating Arsenal by one goal. Manchester United are two points behind and have to settle for the Europa League play-offs.

Right down at the foot of the table, Cardiff, Huddersfield and Fulham are all relegated to the Championship, with Southampton finishing four points clear of the drop zone.

If Liverpool manage to prove Nate's predictions wrong and win the Premier League, not only will they end 29 years of hurt, but they will also end a rather strange run of Premier League winners in the last 20 years all having a Frenchman in the squad.

As per the Daily Mail, every team that has lifted the title from 1999 onwards has had someone from France in the ranks but Liverpool do not continue the trend.

It began in 1999/2000 when Mikael Silvestre won the title with Manchester United and followed up that success in 2000/01, 2002/03 and 2006/07.

And most recently, City had three French players in their unprecedented 100 points campaign last term - with Aymeric Laporte, Benjamin Mendy and Eliaquim Mangala all getting a medal.
