Crystal Palace Were Responsible For A Mental Stat Today

Wow.

Saturday was a good day for Crystal Palace in their Premier League survival hunt.

A number of Palace's relegation rivals dropped points and they claimed a vital victory over Watford at Selhurst Park as they look to move away from the drop.

At the time of writing, they are in 16th place following today's win and are four points clear of the relegation zone.

Their win today was clearly monumental, even more so because they were not on top form by any means and were responsible for a pretty mindblowing statistics in today's outing.

That's because the Eagles managed to beat Watford without actually registering a shot on target in the entire game and had to rely on an own goal from Watford skipper Troy Deeney to pick up the win.

There's scoring with all of your shots on target, there's scoring with your only shot on target and then there's not only scoring without having a shot on target, but also winning the game in the process.

Classic Sam Allardyce.

Crystal Palace fans will likely not be complaining at all though at this stage in the season, as it's all point getting those three points, whether it's a vintage performance or not.

A more impressive Palace-related stat today is that since Mamadou Sakho signed on loan, the team have recorded a clean sheet in all three games in what has been a strong start to Sakho's Palace career.

The Frenchman is clearly having a huge impact at Palace and if they do stay up, they will be indebted to him.
