"It's a question of taste" - wise words from Ronaldinho on football's biggest argument; Ronaldo or Messi?

Ronaldinho, 38, has weighed in on the Ronaldo vs. Messi debate with a philosophical approach.

"I was never one to watch football a lot, or the whole 90 minutes. I watch the great moments, the goals, that's what I think football is. Sometimes it goes well for you, sometimes not, that's football," the ex-Barcelona star told Spanish outlet SPORT.

Before talking up Messi, calling him the 'best in history' while favouring him over Ronaldo based on the Argentine's magical style.

"He's the best in history, no doubt. Nobody has done what Messi's done.

"I hope he plays 20 more years. Those who love football would love to have him here for much longer. I think when he leaves, nobody will be able to take the No 10 of Leo.

"For me it's not a question over who is more complete, it's a question of taste. I prefer Messi's style. The other one is complete, he has it all. So does Messi, but it's a question of taste and I prefer Messi's style."

While Ronaldinho played alongside some absolute greats of the game including Messi, there's a couple of names he would have liked to have strutted beside.

"There are a lot of players who I didn't coincide with and I would have liked to play with them. Coutinho is one of them.

"Iniesta and him are great players. They each have their own style, but I think the Coutinho will be one of the big names in world football. He already is, but I think that he will be more still," he added.

Coutinho swapped Anfield for Camp Nou in January, and has produced heroics in the attacking third.
