Celtic fans have raised almost £95,000 in their #MatchTheFineForPalestine campaign.

The Hoops were last week charged by UEFA for supporters flying an "illicit banner" as they showed support for the Palestine people in the Champions League play-off first leg clash with Israeli side Hapoel Be'er Sheva.

It's expected that the club will face a fine from European football's governing body for the actions of their supporters.

But the threat of that punishment hasn't stopped the Celtic faithful from continuing to give their backing to the Palestine cause.

A gofundme.com campaign was set up on Sunday and intended to raise an initial £15,000 amount - which would go to Medical Aid Palestine (MAP) and the Lajee Centre, a Palestinian cultural centre in Aida Refugee Camp on the outskirts of Bethlehem.

But that £15k target was quickly met by supporters and has now been raised to £95k after the campaign proved wildly popular online:

If the fund continues to be so popular then it shouldn't take long for the total amount raised to break £100k well before Celtic play Hapoel Be'er Sheva in the away leg of their Champions League tie later tonight.

You can give your support to the cause here.
