Carlos Tevez Responds To Reports He Was Injured Playing In Jail

The Boca Juniors forward reportedly couldn't play after picking up an injury when visiting his brother.

Carlos Tevez hasn't long been back from his holiday in China to play once again for Boca Juniors but he's already picked up an injury and it was claimed that was after playing football in jail. Now the former Manchester City striker has responded.

Tevez isn't exactly a footballer who has always covered himself in glory. Despite numerous titles in his career and being a very good forward there always seems to be a lot of controversy surrounding him.

Sure the dodgy dealings that took him to West Ham weren't his fault but walking out on Manchester City and throwing numerous strops certainly was and his back and forth move to Boca Juniors via China also was.

Tevez could certainly find his way onto a most hated XI:

He became the ultimate mercenary when he left Argentina for the Far East after years of complaining he wanted to be back home, only to play rubbish, head back to Boca and then say his time at China was a holiday- despite make a load of money and being utterly useless for his massive wages.

Now back in Argentina Tevez picked up a calf injury last week and it was reported in his home country that it was after visiting his brother in prison and playing a game of football whilst there. The 34 year old hit back, telling TyC Sports:

"Doing strength work at the gym last Wednesday morning, on the machine I felt a great pain in my calf. On Friday, I used the kinesio [adhesive tape] waiting for progression. And since I did not see any, I had tests. There the stretch appeared.

"I do not know why some people do not believe me. If I had not been injured at the gym, I would not be so stupid to say I was injured here.

"But as I'm telling you, they begin to speculate about golf or jail. Sometimes they do not know if they talk bulls*** or not, but I always tell the truth, whether it's politically correct or not.

"I will not be such an idiot to expose myself to go to jail. That they talk so much bulls*** hurts and makes me stronger, because I have to keep evolving. It's time to shut up and deliver everything on the field."

Of course it's no surprise the former Juve forward had to mention the fact he hadn't done himself a mischief on the golf course. After he refused to play for Manchester City he disappeared to Argentina to play golf for a couple of months.

At least he didn't get injured playing football in jail, because that would really make him an idiot.
