Gianluigi Buffon has given his backing on Cristiano Ronaldo's potential transfer to his former club Juventus.

With the five-time Ballon d'Or winner once again said to be disillusioned at Real Madrid despite winning a third straight Champions League trophy, rumours that he's on the way to Turin genuinely appear to have some legs in them and an incredible mega-move could well well be on the cards.

Things could still change, so don't be surprised if the whole saga ends with him signing a new contract with Real Madrid.

However, if it does come off and we see CR7 plying his trade in Serie A, it would please Buffon.

The legendary Italian has just left the Bianconeri for PSG after 17 glorious years but would be more than happy if his former club recruited Ronaldo.

Asked if he would be annoyed if the Portugal skipper moved to the Allianz Stadium, the 40-year old gave a brilliant response.

"It doesn't bother me. It bothers me the two goals that he scored against me in the final and the ones that he got last season," Buffon said, as per Goal.

"It would make me happy because it is what the Juventus world needs, to find new idols and adore them.

"It would be the best advertising for Italian football. It is confirmation of how much Juventus, with [chairman] Andrea Agnelli and his family, can adapt to the times and even anticipate them."

One of Buffon's old Juve teammates, David Trezeguet, is also well in favour of Ronaldo's potential arrival.
