Most of the talk before the Champions League final was whether it would be Isco or Gareth Bale who started the match but now all the talk is of the absence of James Rodriguez.
Bale has been injured since the Clasico defeat to Barcelona back in April but was known to be back in contention for the game against Juventus.
There would have been something 'romantic' about picking Bale in his hometown for his return to the first team although it would have been a risk to his health.

On top of the lack of fitness is the fact that Los Blancos have arguably been playing without the former Spurs winger, with Isco slotting seamlessly into the team.
