An Alternate Premier League Team Of The Season XI

An Alternate Premier League Team Of The Season XI

We're not happy with a couple of inclusions in this years TOTY squad...

The Premier League's Team of the Year was announced earlier today as the likes of N'Golo Kante, Dele Alli and Eden Hazard predictably featured.

Chelsea and Tottenham dominated the proceedings, with four choices each, while a player from Everton, Manchester United and Liverpool respectively featured in a strong TOTY, but could it have been even stronger?

Notable absentees include Cesar Azpilicueta, who has completed more passes than any other Premier League player this season - and Alexis Sanchez, who has scored 19 and assisted nine times this season.

Sanchez may have been directly involved in 28 goals this season, but Liverpool's Sadio Mane triumphed, despite the Arsenal forward making the PFA Player of the Year shortlist.

In fact, Sanchez is the 3rd most productive forward in Europe this season.

Another player who could have easily found himself in the Team of the Season side is Gylfi Sigurdsson. Swansea's midfield maestro is Europe's leading assist maker, and has covered more ground (318.2km) than any other player in the league this season.

Others who have been mentioned include Marcos Alonso, Toby Alderweireld and Hugo Lloris, who've performed admirably for their respected clubs.
