Bayern Munich are ready to challenge Manchester United over the signing of Paulo Dybala after reports emerged that the Bundesliga club have launched an £80m bid.

The 25-year-old Argentine forward has played second fiddle to Cristiano Ronaldo for much of the season at Juventus, with former Old Lady boss Massimiliano Allegri preferring the ex-Manchester United and Real Madrid star in his starting XI.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the Bundesliga champions believe that they can offer him regular first-team football at the club.

The Italian newspaper added that the Bavarians are 'really serious' about landing him and have shown that with their offer.

However, it's believed that the Serie A champions are holding out for a £100m offer for Dybala, whose contract expires in 2022, should he want to leave in the summer.

Bayern Munich secured the services of French World Cup winner Benjamin Pavard back in January after signing him on a five-year contract from VfB Stuttgart.

The Bavarians' uppers have continued to release funds from their war chest when they signed Lucas Hernandez from Atlético Madrid for a fee of €80m in March.

However, manager Niko Kovač is still in the market in the hopes of securing more attacking-minded options, following the departure of Arjen Robben and Franck Ribéry.

The club have been linked with Manchester City star Leroy Sané and reportedly made an opening offer to the Premier League champions last week.

While the likes of Bayern Munich and United are interested in Dybala, Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici said that he is keen for the club to keep hold of the Argentina international for the long term.

"He is one of our players, we have great confidence in him," he said.

"The investment we made four years ago and the renewal of his contract is proof of this.

"Dybala is a Juventus player, a very important player for us."
