Bayern Munich have emerged as one of the favourites to make a sensational swoop for Real Madrid wantaway Gareth Bale.

The Madrid winger, 30, has been unsettled in recent months and Los Blancos boss Zinedine Zidane has confirmed that he is close to exiting the Spanish club.

According to Oddschecker, bookies have slashed odds on the German champions snapping up the Welsh superstar.

Odds have plummeted from 10/1 to 6/4 on Bale arriving in Germany this summer and becoming Niko Kovac's marquee signing for Bayern Munich.

But leading the race to sign the ex-Tottenham Hotspur ace is a Chinese side, with odds at 4/6 for the Welshman to head to a China-based team.

Manchester United and Spurs, who have both been linked with Bale in recent months, are 7/1 and 8/1 respectively.

Posted below are the odds for teams interested in signing Bale.

  • Any Chinese team: 4/6
  • Bayern Munich: 6/4
  • Manchester United: 7/1
  • Spurs: 8/1
  • Arsenal: 20/1
  • Paris Saint-Germain : 20/1
  • LA Galaxy: 25/1

"We knew early on this would be on of 'those' transfer sagas," says Oddschecker spokesman Callum Wilson.

"It appeared it would be Manchester United at the heart of it, previously odds-on favourites to sign Bale.

"However, with his exit now seemingly a priority for Real Madrid, it looks like it could simply be down to the highest bidder."

Kovac, 47, has been in the market this summer for new wingers after the departure of Bayern Munich legends Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben.

The Bavarians boss has been linked with a move for Leroy Sane, but Manchester City are demanding at least £90m for the 23-year-old German winger.

But Bayern Munich could turn their attention to Bale after Zidane said he was 'very close' to leaving.

The Madrid boss, 47, told reporters: "We hope he leaves soon. It would be best for everyone. We are working on his transfer to a new team.

"I have nothing personal against him, but there comes a time where things are done because they must be done.

"I have to make decisions. We have to change.

"The exit is the coach's decision, and also of the player, who knows the situation.

"The situation will change, I do not know if in 24 or 48 hours, but it will -- and it's a good thing for everyone."

But the Wales international's agent, Jonathan Barnett, slammed 'Zizou' for the 'disrespectful' comments made about his client.

"Zidane is a disgrace -- he shows no respect for a player that has done so much for Real Madrid," he told AFP.
