Huge controversy over in La Liga.

After Barcelona and Real Madrid both claimed emphatic victories last night, with Barcelona carving out bottom club Osasuna 7-1 at the Nou Camp and Real beating Deportivo La Coruna 6-2 away from home, the La Liga title race is heating up.

Barca's last-gasp 3-2 win at the Bernabeu on Sunday has really blown things wide open and at the time of writing, the two are level on 78 points - with Luis Enrique's side ahead on goal difference although Real Madrid do have a game in hand and therefore are still in the driving seat.

A lot can change between now and the end of the season but the league title being decided on the final day of the La Liga season isn't a bad bet at all - except there's a bit of controversy surrounding that matchday already.

On the final day of the season on 21 May, Barcelona host Eibar, while Real Madrid face a trip to Malaga.

And Malaga's owner Abdullah Al Thani has alarmed those connected to Barcelona with a Tweet he put out.

Barca called 'scum'
Barca called 'scum'

Translated, it reads:

"With Allah's help on the pitch, the Catalan scum won't even smell the trophy after their lies about manager Michel."

The tweet appears to be referencing the allegations that Barcelona are said to have spoke about Michel, the Malaga boss, following the 2-0 defeat a couple of weeks back where Neymar was shown two yellow cards and given a three-match ban for sarcastically applauding the fourth official.

Barcelona are understandably concerned about the social media post, with many believing that a bit of match-fixing could be on the way as Malaga could roll over so that Real clinch the title and not Barca.

Following on from the Tweet, the Blaugrana are to report Al Thani to several relevant governing bodies.

On the official FC Barcelona website, the club issued the following statement:

"FC Barcelona hereby expresses its rejection of, and indignation with regard to, the content of a tweet posted by the president of Malaga CF, Abdullah Al-Thani, whose public declaration infringes upon the principles of fair play, and the ethical and legal precepts that must govern sporting competition.

"The Club, therefore, will report this case to the National Sports Council's Anti-Violence Committee, and will bring the matter before the Royal Spanish Football Federation's Competition Committee, as well as the Department of Integrity of La Liga."

Al Thani has since issued a response on his previous comments:

Roughly translated, it reads:

"The ones mentioned here are the journalists and newspapers of Catalonia that mentioned that Michel will hand over the match to Madrid to win the title !!!!! (sic)

"This is totally unacceptable. We don't sell matches. I ask for an official apology from these newspapers and journalists after what they said about Michel or any other person working for this club (Malaga) - and whoever wants to come up with a different explanation from their wild imaginations can do so.

"Thank you."

All eyes are on that Malaga-Real Madrid game already.
