Barcelona will do battle with rivals Real Madrid over the signing of Paul Pogba after reports suggest that the Spanish club are ready to table a bid for the Frenchman.

The 26-year-old Manchester United midfielder's future has remained uncertain at Old Trafford in the last few months of the season, with Los Blancos boss Zinedine Zidane keen to bring him to the club as he overhauls his squad.

Well, it looks like Barça are not ready to sit idly by as their rivals make a move for the Red Devils star.

According to Tuttosport, the La Liga champions are willing to sell Ivan Rakitić in order to release the funds needed to sign Pogba.

The Italian newspaper added that Barcelona would be ready to offer £130m for the World Cup-winning Frenchman.

Rakitić had previously been linked with a move away from the Camp Nou at the end of the season, as well as recent reports suggesting that he was one of the ten first-team players that the club would be ready to sell in their summer clearout.

Barcelona's Champions League exit at the hands of Liverpool in the semi-finals has made the club's uppers crack open their war chest to hand manager Ernesto Valverde the cash needed to overhaul the squad.

Frenkie de Jong will arrive at Barcelona in July after signing with the club back in January, while Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt is heavily linked with a move to the Camp Nou, too.

When ex-United boss José Mourinho was recently asked whether he was a victim of his relationship with Pogba, he said that was not the only problem during his time at Old Trafford.

"No. The problems are there. You can imagine that the problems are the players, the organisation, the ambition," he told L'Équipe.

"I only say that I cannot say yes when you ask if Paul was the only one responsible."
