Frenkie de Jong has edged one step closer to a dream move to the Camp Nou after reports suggest that Barcelona could announce the deal in the 'next 48 hours.'
According to Diario AS, the Spanish club and the Ajax star's representatives are at a 'very advanced stage.'
In fact, the Spanish newspaper has suggested that any further developments on the deal are 'expected to be announced' this week.
The reigning La Liga champions are expected to pay the Dutch club a reported fee of £67.4m ($86m/€75m) for the 21-year-old Netherlands international.
Last year, Barcelona legend Xavi claimed that De Jong and Ajax teammate Matthijs de Ligt had the club's "DNA" in them.
"I like them a lot, they'd be very good for Barcelona," he told Marca. "They don't lose the ball, they bring it out well.
"They already have the Barcelona DNA coming from Ajax, which has always been a good school for us. And they're young."
Will de Jong be a success at Barcelona?
