Barcelona Congratulate Real Madrid On Winning La Liga, Backfires Big Time

Of course it did...

Real Madrid's five-year wait for a La Liga title ended yesterday following a routine 2-0 win over Malaga.

While Los Blancos claimed the richest prize in club football by winning the Champions League twice in the last three seasons, they have had to watch both of their biggest rivals in Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, taste league title success in recent times.

However this season under Zinedine Zidane they have managed to capture the title for the 33rd time in the club's history, taking them nine titles clear of Barcelona in the process.

After winning their all-important game in hand against Celta Vigo 4-1, they went into the last day of the season three points ahead and favourites to win the title but knew that Barcelona's better head-to-head record meant they couldn't afford to slip up.

Los Blancos didn't have time to get nervy though as Cristiano Ronaldo put them ahead after just two minutes and an 11th league goal from Karim Benzema in the second half did the business.

Barcelona did what they had to do at the Nou Camp by coming back from 2-0 down to win 4-2 but it was too little to late and the title was Real's.

The Catalan side congratulated Real on their title win following the game, with a simple but classy message in defeat.

But of course, they were instantly met with a flurry of responses from Madridistas, who were in the mood for trolling after being crowned champions.

It was inevitable wasn't it?

Barcelona still have the chance to end the season, and Luis Enrique's reign, with some silverware though, as they they take on Alaves in the Copa Del Rey final next weekend, while Real are of course looking to add yet another Champions League title to their collection with a victory over Juventus in the final in Cardiff on June 3.
