Axel Witsel has sealed a move from Zenit St-Petersburg to Chinese Super League side Tianjin Quanjian, and the talented midfielder has issued a refreshingly honest reason behind the switch.

The Belgium international will go from earning £65,000-a-week to a whopping £300,00-a-week contract and becomes the latest high-profile player to swap Europe for Asia.

But Witsel had plenty of offers to stay in Europe including that of Serie A giants Juventus. Though the mega-deal was just too good to turn down, as well as saying it was a crucial offer for his family.

While claiming it was a difficult decision to reject the advances from the Italian club;

"It was a very difficult decision because on one hand there was a great team and a top club like Juventus." He told Tuttosport via Mirror.

Admitting the money being a motive behind the move to the Far East; "But on the other there was a crucial offer for my family that I couldn't turn down."

Continuing by praising Juve, and hoping they can clinch the Champions League;

"The leadership at Juventus have always behaved like gentlemen with me and I can only be grateful to them."

"I will cheer for Juventus and I hope they can win the Champions League. Then who knows, maybe one day in the future our paths will finally meet."

The ridiculous contracts continue to come in thick and fast, but this move will send shock waves through the sport.
