Arsène Wenger's future could be in Germany after being linked with the manager's position at Bayern Munich.

The 69-year-old Frenchman left Arsenal in the summer after 22 years with the London club, but it looks like he could be ready to replace the under-fire Niko Kovač in January.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Wenger is interested in taking over at the Allianz Arena.

The newspaper has also reported that unnamed sources close to the former Gunners boss believe that the position offers him a chance to compete with a top team and end his career with more trophies in the cabinet.

Bayern are keen to take on Wenger, who has also been linked with AC Milan, for the fact that he speaks fluent German.

Last month, Wenger confirmed that he would be returning to football management in January.

"I feel rested and am ready to work again," he told Bild.

"I believe [I will] start again on 1 January. I don't know [where] yet. There are associations, national teams, it could be also in Japan.

"From my 22 years at Arsenal, I have big experience on different levels. There are enquiries from all over the world."
