Arsenal's Nicolas Pepe Somehow Manages To Miss From Six Yards Out

The Ivorian missed an absolute sitter...

Nicolas Pepe is Arsenal's record signing but you wouldn't have guessed it given the way he fluffed his lines against Sheffield United this evening.

The Ivorian had a glorious opportunity to open the scoring 20 minutes in at Bramall Lane when he was picked out by a perfect cross from Sead Kolasinac down the left.

Arsenal fans were probably already getting ready to jump up in celebration and yet somehow, with the goal gaping, Pepe did not get a clean contact and the chance went begging.

He might have dribbled past Virgil van Dijk and scored a penalty but you certainly expect much better finishing from a £72 million player - especially considering the ball was on a plate and on his favoured left foot.

The former Lille man was prolific in France last season, scoring 22 goals in 38 Ligue One games but he's seriously struggling in his first three months in England

Not long after the miss, Arsenal, who also had a strong penalty shout denied by Mike Dean in the first half, went 1-0 down after Sheff United striker Lys Mousset tapped home from a corner on the half hour mark.
