Arsenal have completed the loan signing of Denis Suarez until the end of the season, with Barcelona confirming the news on their official website.

Suarez, who has played 71 games for the Blaugrana and won five trophies, has extended his contract for another season but will embark on a second spell in English football with the Gunners, who have an option to buy him in the summer.

"FC Barcelona have also agreed a loan deal for Suárez with Arsenal for the remainder of the 2018/19 season. The Premier League club will pay the player's salary during this time and the agreement includes an option to buy," a statement on Barca's website read.

The Spaniard started out his career at Celta Vigo before joining Manchester City for an initial £850,000 and was tipped to make the grade at the club.

However, he only managed two first-team appearances for the club, both coming in League Cup games. He moved on to Barcelona's B team set-up in 2012, spent a season on loan at Sevilla under Emery and won the Europa League with the Andalusian outfit.

The 25-year old then signed for Villarreal in a permanent deal but wasn't there long as Barcelona, impressed by what they had seen, exercised their €3.5 million buy-back clause back in 2016.

Suarez went on to win one La Liga title, two Copa del Rey trophies and two Spanish Super Cups with Barca's first-team, scoring eight goals in the process.

But with a flurry of excellent attacking players playing his position, he managed just 17 minutes of game-time in La Liga this season and will now look to aid Arsenal in their pursuit for a top four finish and the return of Champions League football at the Emirates.
