Arda Turan could be going to prison for as many as 12-and-a-half years because of an alleged assault on Turkish singer Berkay Sahin outside a Turkish nightclub.

The incident happened back in October, with a Turkish TV station publishing footage of the aftermath.

As per MARCA, Turan, currently on loan at at Istanbul Basaksehir from Barcelona, is facing a slew of charges - including sexual harassment, inflicting intentional injuries and shooting a firearm in a way to cause panic, along with possessing an unlicensed gun.

According to reports in Turkey, Sahin was with his wife, Ozlem Ada at a club in Istanbul when Turan made an approach.

Sahin claims Turan made suggestive comments to his wife, saying: "You're very pretty, if you weren't married I wouldn't let you get away."

An altercation then ensued and Sahin ended up in hospital after suffering a broken nose from the reported attack.

But the situation got even crazier from then on. The former Atletico Madrid midfielder went to the hospital to offer an apology to Sahin, but brought a firearm with him and told the 37-year old," shoot me if you want".

It's claimed that Turan later fired a bullet at the ground after Sahin moved the weapon away and declined.

Turan, who was fined 370,000 euros by his club for his behavior, took to Instagram to make a statement about the allegations in October.

"I would like to make a statement about the news in the papers," he wrote.

"There was an argument on my day off at the place that I went with my friends, but the reason is not about honour and purity as reported.

"It is not possible to be that way."

Both individuals appeared in court today, with the case postponed until June 19. Sahin himself could face up to 2 years in prison after being charged for insulting Turan.
