Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson says he felt for Loris Karius after he made two costly mistakes in the Champions League final against Real Madrid.

In the biggest game of his career, the former Mainz man produced two atrocious errors in Kiev - first rolling the ball straight to Karim Benzema to score the easiest opener before dropping Gareth Bale's swerving long-range shot into the net to the make score 3-1.

Karius was in tears at the end of the game, having cost Liverpool the game and pretty much ending his career on Merseyside with those two high-profile mistakes.

Jurgen Klopp immediately addressed the goalkeeping situation in the summer, forking out £67 million to bring in Alisson from Roma.

He's kept 12 clean sheets in 21 games - the best record from any shot-stopper in the league so far - and has been instrumental in Liverpool topping the table.

And in a fresh interview with Four Four Two, and says he felt bad for Karius when he watched his struggles against Real - given he's a member of the goalkeeper's union.

"Even when my team scores after a big mistake from the opposition keeper, it's a different feeling for me. I don't celebrate it like any other goal," the 26-year old admitted.

"I know what goes through the mind of a goalkeeper in those kind of moments. I was so sad to see what happened to Karius - it could have happened to anyone."

Karius is currently playing on loan at Besiktas in Turkey, with Simon Mignolet sticking around as deputy to Alisson.

The Belgian keeper has spoke honestly about his place in the team and reiterated he's behind his fellow goalkeeper.

"Of course it isn't easy," he said. "I've spoken about it before - it's not something that you want to be doing, but the team is doing so well and you just try to help the team as best as you can."

"I'm behind Alisson, who is a really good goalkeeper - probably within the best five goalkeepers in the world, if not the best - and you can accept and understand it.

"We try to work hard and we get along really well as well, the both of us. I can learn from him, he can learn from me and we just try to work as hard as we can.

"Not only between the goalkeepers, but I also know that I have to be ready for if anything happens or the team needs me, and therefore I have to be working hard on a daily basis for when the chance comes along or I get called upon."
