Plenty of you reading this probably expected Alexis Sanchez to cruise into Manchester United and replicate the type of form people often expect from an experienced Premier League forward. Goals, assists and attacking threat?

Despite the excessive hype, the 29-year-old is yet to bring any of those qualities to the table and tonight's game against Crystal Palace was a prime example of how frustrating Sanchez can be when it comes to losing the ball in possession.

In one of the most shocking stats of the season thus far, Sanchez lost the ball a remarkable 19 times during the first half - a stat that left Jamie Carragher stunned.

"Sanchez has lost the ball 19 times in the first half. That is shocking. It's like him and Pogba are the two best kids on the playground so they'll do whatever they want." he said on Sky Sports.

To put Sanchez's first half into further perspective, he was dispossessed four times in the game and misplaced another 12 passes.

The 29-year-old didn't manage to record a shot on target, while his teammate Paul Pogba struggled in large spells throughout. It was a disastrous first half performance from Mourinho's men and social media quickly pounced on their poor outing in London:

One Twitter user said: "Alexis Sanchez has been average since joining Manchester United."

While another commented: "Sanchez has been terrible since he joined Man United, reminds me of when Di Maria had his disastrous season there."

United went on to win 3-2 after goals from Chris Smalling, Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic.
