AC Milan have taken a major step in signing former striker Zlatan Ibrahimović in the January transfer window.

The LA Galaxy star's agent, Mino Raiola, has visited the Italian club's headquarters in a meeting that lasted four hours, according to Milan News' Antonio Vitiello.

It is also believed that the former Manchester United and Barcelona star was the 'central theme' of the conversation, as well as covering other topics like market solutions in January.

AC have previously been linked with a move for Ibrahimović and that both parties had a 'firm interest' in making the deal happen.

Milan boss Gennaro Gattuso is also looking to bolster his squad options in other areas, with the club hoping to secure Champions League football for next season.

Diario AS (via Football Espana) reports that the club have made contact with Cesc Fàbregas' representatives and are looking to secure a deal in January.

The 31-year-old former Arsenal and Barcelona star has fallen down the pecking order at Chelsea under manager Maurizio Sarri, who favours summer signing Jorginho to be at the heart of the Blues' midfield.

Leonardo Araújo, the sporting director of AC, is keen to land the Spaniard in January and believes that it can be possible with Fàbregas being out of contract at the end of the season.

Atlético Madrid are also interested in signing Fàbregas.

Where would Milan finish in Serie A if they signed Fàbregas and Ibrahimović in January?
