17-Year-Old Daniel Maldini Scored for AC Milan Primavera, With His Dad Watching On

Maldini is probably the biggest surname when it comes to AC Milan...

Paolo Maldini's son found the net in a 2-0 win for AC Milan Primavera, with the Rossoneri legend proudly watching on.

Wearing the No.10 shirt and taking up the sort of positions that his old man never did during his glittering playing career, Daniel Maldini produced an emphatic finish after being picked out brilliantly.

And of course the cameras panned to his dad in the stands. Paulo, now working as a director at his beloved Milan, tried to play it cool and couldn't decide whether to place his hands in his pockets or fold his arms, but you got a sense of what it meant to him.

Daniel is Paulo's youngest son and the fourth Maldini to have been on the books of Milan - following in the footsteps of his father, grandfather Cesare and older brother Christian, who now plays for Serie C side Fano.

The 22-year old left Milan without playing a single first-team appearance for the club and Daniel will be hoping that he doesn't repeat that feat.

The San Siro club are believed to have high hopes for him though, with Fabrizio Romano of Calciomercato writing in December that the club are keen on renewing his contract and extending it beyond its expiry date in 2021.

Maldini, who won an insane 26 trophies in three decades with Milan, would surely love nothing more than seeing his son make the grade at Milan.

He is a Rossonero through and through, so much so that Sir Alex Ferguson was even rejected when he tried to sign him.

"Well, I did try [to sign Maldini]," Ferguson recalled.

"But when I met his father, he was quite formidable. I got a shake of the head, that's all I got."

While the former United manager initially joked about Cesare saying nothing to him, he did reveal why he wouldn't let the former Italy international sign for the Red Devils.

"No, he did say: 'my grandfather was Milan, my father's Milan, I'm Milan, my sons are Milan. Forget it,'" he explained.
