The transfer window may be shut after a whopping spend of £419.5 million from Premier League clubs, but there's still plenty of players out of contract who can be snapped up for free.

Patrice Evra has just been signed by West Ham United on a short-term deal but there are 11 other players with Premier League experience who could well be worth a punt - with some certainly more appealing than others.

Here's who might be of interest to your club:

Samir Nasri

Starting out with one of the very best free agents about, the two-time Premier League winner left Manchester City for Turkish outfit Antalyaspor in the summer but had his contract terminated after six months and is now without a club.

His attitude and work ethic has often come into question but on his day the 30-year old is an incredibly technically gifted footballer.

Alex Song

Sticking with former Arsenal players, Song also recently had his contract ripped up, having left Rubin Kazan.

Along with his former teammate Nasri, the Cameroonian was attracting serious interest from Serie A's bottom club Benevento, but a move never materialised.

He's recently been training with his old club Arsenal as he attempts to improve his fitness.

Carlton Cole

The well-travelled striker has over 200 Premier League appearances to his name, having turned out for Chelsea, Charlton Athletic, Aston Villa and West Ham.

Scorer of 52 goals in the English top flight, his last three career moves - to Celtic, Sacramento Republic and Indonesian outfit Persib Bandung, have all been very brief and he's been searching for a new club since the summer.

Marouane Chamakh

Another striker on the market for free is former Arsenal flop Marouane Chamakh, who scored just eight league goals for the Gunners after arriving from Bordeaux.

He then joined Crystal Palace, where he endured three seasons with the Eagles before his release. His last club was Cardiff City, where he played just twice after signing in October 2016.

Anderson

"He's class on grass and he shits on Fabregas" was the chant Manchester United fans used to sign about their former Brazilian, but he's a free agent at the moment.

The four-time Premier League winner returned to his native Brazil after leaving Old Trafford but was released by Internacional last month.

Joleon Lescott

The two-time Premier League and expert "pocket tweeter" has been training with Non-League side AFC Telford in a bid to keep his fitness levels up to scratch.

Having left Sunderland in June 2017 after just two appearances, the former England international has been doing punditry work of late.

Victor Anichebe

The Nigerian striker, who played with Lescott at Everton, West Brom and Sunderland, is also out of football. His last club was Beijing Enterprises in the second tier of Chinese football, where he featured 11 times and scored twice.

Jan Kirchoff

The former Bayern Munich man impressed for Sunderland in the Premier League, but aged 27, he now finds himself without a club.

Philipp Wollscheid

The second German on the list, Wollschied was once a permanent fixture in the Stoke City, before being loaned out to Wolfsburg.

His Potters deal was then terminated by mutual consent in the summer and he moved to Metz in France, where he failed to make a single league appearance before leaving last month.

Sulley Muntari

The experienced Ghanaian turned out for Portsmouth and Sunderland in the Premier League, while he's also played for both Milan clubs.

He's not been involved in football for six months after leaving Pescara, where he suffered racial abuse and subsequently walked off the pitch following being shown a yellow card in April.

Gabriel Paletta

The ex Parma and AC Milan centre-back played just three Premier League games for Liverpool many years ago so isn't exactly a household name, but the 31-year old has played for Italy in a World Cup.

Now 31, he was released by the Rossoneri at the end of January.

Sebastian Bassong

The Cameroonian played in the Premier League with Tottenham, Newcastle and Norwich City - the latter released him at the end of the 2016/17 campaign after 126 appearances for the club.

Perhaps he isn't as desperate as the others to return to the game as he's embarked on a new career mixing it up on the decks.
