Sandro Tonali's comments about gym at Newcastle training ground go viral

Sandro Tonali's comments about gym at Newcastle training ground go viral

Sandro Tonali's reaction after seeing Newcastle United's gym for the first time has become a huge talking point on social media.

Footage of Sandro Tonali reacting to the gym facilities on show at Newcastle United's training ground has become a big talking point on social media.

The 23-year-old midfielder was given a tour of the transformed Benton training base this week after completing his much talked-about £55 million move from AC Milan.

Tonali's girlfriend Juliette Pastore appeared pleasantly surprised when she walked into the Premier League club's new-look training ground for the first time.

But the Italy international appeared to keep his cards close to his chest as he walked around; that's until he was asked about the size of Newcastle's gym.

As you can see from the footage below, a member of Sandro Tonali’s team, which wasn't his partner, asks: "Was the gym this big in Milano?"

According to Italian publication SempreMilan, Tonali responds: "No it [Milanello] is bigger.”

Newcastle are still committed to building a new state-of-the-art training complex in the coming years but for the time being, they will be situated at the Benton.

To be fair, the building has undergone an "extensive" renovation of late, with the addition of hydrotherapy and plunge pools, improved changing rooms and an updated presentation room.

Other additions include a modern players' lounge and a brand new dining area but compared to the Milanello Sports Center gym, it seems Newcastle are lacking in the size department.

Here's how social media reacted to the above clip.

One said: "I’ve not watched one clip of this guy looking happy with the decision he has made," while another wrote: "Actually feel so sorry for Tonali. Can clearly tell he just doesn’t want to be there. Wouldn’t surprise me if he forces a move back in a few years time."

A third commented: "Gotta feel for Newcastle. I’ve seen this movie before. He was sold to help them out financially, he will kick off in about 6 months time, go back to Milan for pennies."

A fourth added: "People need to let this go now like ha ha it’s turned proper weird. He’s a Newcastle player end of."
