Man United ‘closing in’ on double deal as Erik ten Hag makes David de Gea decision

Man United ‘closing in’ on double deal as Erik ten Hag makes David de Gea decision

Manchester United are planning for a busy transfer window

Manchester United are reportedly closing in on two transfers as Erik ten Hag looks to start shaping his squad early.

United ended their season in disappointment on Saturday after they were beaten by fierce rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final.

However, it has been a largely successful first season for Ten Hag as he managed to win the Carabao Cup and lead United back into the Champions League.

As the summer transfer window fast approaches, United are already working tirelessly behind the scenes to get deals over the line.

According to A Bola, United’s effort to sign Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa is well underway.

If they manage to secure the Portuguese, it could spell the end for David de Gea, who has been criticised on numerous occasions during the 22/23 campaign.

Aside from Costa, United are said to be looking at Brentford goalkeeper David Raya but will face strong competition from Tottenham Hotspur.

It has been reported that the Old Trafford already have an agreement in place to sign Korean defender Kim Min Jae from Serie A champions Napoli with Gazzetta dello Sport claiming the club are 'taking it for granted' that the defender will move to United.

It is believed that the 26-year-old has a release clause within his contract, which is a reported £43 million.

Ten Hag is looking to add an extra central defender to his ranks in order to provide more competition for the likes of Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez.

After the defeat against City, Ten Hag told BBC Sport: “We are broken, disappointed of course, but I said I am proud of my team. We did very well, we conceded two soft goals but we were in the game. There was a great spirit and very good organisation.

“We are only team capable of fighting back against Man City.”

The Dutchman added: “They were tough goals, they were so soft and avoidable. When you play aaginst City and you don't concede almost nothing from open play it is a big credit for the team but if you concede goals like this it is disappointing.

“This team showed resiliance, character and personality. We know we have a way to go but this will make us better. It was a test for us, we didn't succeed but we can take a lot of positives into next season.”
