Liverpool set an unwanted record in their 2-0 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah both netted to help Liverpool to a hard-fought 2-0 win over Wolves and boost the club’s hopes of finishing in the top four of the Premier League.
It initially looked to be another frustrating evening for Jurgen Klopp’s side, after Darwin Nunez’s strike was ruled out by VAR. Having failed to score in four of their previous six Premier League matches, there was a worry the Reds would draw yet another blank.

However, the Merseyside club eventually made the breakthrough through Van Dijk’s close-range header before Salah consolidated the lead by turning in Konstantinos Tsimikas’ cut-back.
The victory moves Liverpool up to sixth in the table, just six points adrift of fourth place Tottenham Hotspur with a game in hand.
Despite claiming a precious three points, however, Liverpool set an unwanted record in Wednesday’s Premier League clash.
Liverpool’s unwanted record
According to Michael Reid, who is the Football Data Editor at OptaJoe, Liverpool have now gone 32 games without a penalty in the Premier League.

In that time the club had 1138 touches in the opposition box.
Indeed, since Opta’s records began, that is the most number of touches in the box and side has ever had over a run of Premier League games without being awarded a single penalty.
However, the same game also saw Salah equal a more positive record.
The Egyptian’s goal was his 20th of the season, meaning he has now recorded 20+ goals in all six of his seasons on Merseyside.

The 30–year-old is only the second player in Liverpool history to record 20+ goals in six successive seasons, after Ian Rush, who did so from the 1981-82 season to 1986-87.
