"Best in the world" - Sam Allardyce wowed by "fantastic" Liverpool man

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp praised by Sam Allardyce

Former Premier League manager Sam Allardyce has heaped praise on Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.

The ex-Everton, West Ham United, Bolton Wanderers, Sunderland, Newcastle United and West Brom man is of the opinion that the Premier League is home to the best managers in the world, and he reserved some special praise for the German, stating that he’s a ‘fantastic’ coach.

Speaking to the ‘Kammy and Ben Proper Football Podcast’, Allardyce managed to ensure he got his strong record against Klopp in whilst praising him.

“We have the best in the world, don’t we? That’s what I think. The best in the world want to try the Premier League."

"You're pitting your wits against the best in the world. I have a good record against Jurgen except for the last 30 seconds at West Brom when the goalie scored."

"I never got over that one, but yeah I’ve done well but he’s a fantastic manager at a fantastic football club now,” Allardyce said.

However, Liverpool have had an abject and disappointing start to their Premier League season, picking up just nine points from their opening six matches.

They also were thrashed in their opening Champions League game in Naples earlier this week, leaving many fans wondering where the current group goes from here.

With the same Queen's death impacting the future schedule of football in the coming week, it could offer an important break in which the squad can reshuffle ahead of their potential next fixture against Ajax in the UEFA Champions League.

Thiago Alcantara made a timely return against Napoli, but Liverpool are still without Curtis Jones, Ibrahima Konate, Calvin Ramsay, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Klopp will be hopeful that at least a couple of those players may return to help them get their campaign back on track.
