Jurgen Klopp tells Liverpool fans to 'stop singing my name' after Spurs win

Jurgen Klopp tells Liverpool fans to 'stop singing my name' after Spurs win

Jurgen Klopp made a request after Liverpool's win over Tottenham.

Jurgen Klopp has told Liverpool fans to 'stop singing my name' following their big win over Tottenham last weekend.

Liverpool beat Spurs 4-3 in a dramatic back-and-forth clash at Anfield as they look to hunt down Manchester United and Newcastle United to land a top-four finish.

Klopp's side raced into a three-goal lead inside 15 minutes, with Ryan Mason's team fighting back to level 3-3 in the 93rd minute.

But Diogo Jota fired Liverpool back into the lead moments after Richarlison levelled.

Naturally, the atmosphere inside Anfield was electric as the home supporters sang about their players and manager.

Liverpool supporters celebrated Klopp as they chanted to the tune of 'I Feel Fine' by The Beatles.

But the German boss has asked fans NOT to sing his name during the match.

"At 3-0, it was not the result for a sensational atmosphere," he explained.

"Pretty much everyone misunderstood it, everybody."

Klopp added: "My song, don’t sing it.

"If you want to sing it, sing it after the game in the bar, wherever.

"Because it’s almost like we’re closing the game, we are 3-0 up [after 15 minutes] and they start 'I’m so glad Jurgen is a Red' and I thought: 'It’s not over'.

"So, it would be really nice if you could leave that for later."

Liverpool ultimately secured the three points as Jota struck deep, deep into stoppage time.

They currently occupy fifth place in the table, seven points behind fourth-placed Man United and a further nine points adrift of third-placed Newcastle.

The Reds have five games left to break into the top-four. Will they secure Champions League qualification? Let us know.
