The Manchester United definitely enjoyed Ibra's goal.

The first thought most people have of Sir Alex Ferguson is of a scary manager and his infamous hairdryer tactic, god only knows the flashbacks David Beckham must have everytime he sees a boot on the floor. But in retirement Fergie has become everyone's grandad.

For 27 years Sir Alex Ferguson was Manchester United. The Scot won 26 of the major trophies that now make up United's 42, the figure that took them above Liverpool as the most successful British club at the weekend.

To get to that point the Red Devils had to beat Southampton at the weekend to win the EFL Cup, the club's second major trophy since the Fergie era came to an end in 2013, and the first under Jose Mourinho (not including the two Community Shields won by David Moyes and Mourinho).

United required some magic from Zlatan Ibrahimovic to win the match and he first supplied it in the 19th minute with a wonderful free-kick goal from outside the area and Fergie's reaction reminded us of a delighted grandad at the football, basically because that's what he is now!

Former Manchester United assistant manager Mike Phelan revealed to the Manchester Evening News back in August that Fergie had tried to sign Zlatan when he was in charge at Old Trafford.

Phelan told the paper, "There has to be moment in a career span like Sir Alex Ferguson had that there were moments when you come across and think about such star players as Zlatan Ibrahimovic...

"I am sure he was on the radar many times. But he was at top, top clubs and because of that, even though it was Manchester United, the prospect of him moving to the Premier League was always very slim because he was at the best anyway."

Zlatan would of course go on to score the winner with a late header after Southampton had come back from 2-0 down to draw the game level at 2-2. It was a cruel blow for the Saints who were brilliant.

For the 35 year old striker it was his 26th goal of what is turning out to be the dream debut season in the Premier League.

Which footballing icon would you most like as your grandad?
