The great Andrea Pirlo has called time on his glittering career, and we're all eager to find out what is next for the Italian.
Having announced that he would retire at the end of the season, Pirlo played his final disguised pass, took his final free-kick and kicked his final ball on Sunday evening as NYCFC succumbed to a 4-3 aggregate defeat to Columbus Crew and failed to advance in the MLS play-offs.

The man himself released the following statement:
After a career that saw him lift two Champions Leagues, six Serie A titles, two Coppa Italias and the World Cup, Pirlo, one of the greatest midfielders to ever play the beautiful game, is more than deserving of a rest period.

However the consensus would appear to be that he won't be sitting about on his backside for too long, with a number of job offers and opportunities mooted. Italian outlet La Repubblica, via Football Italia, say that there is an offer on the table from his old employers Juventus, with whom he won four consecutive Serie A titles, for the 38-year old to return in an ambassadorial capacity.
In becoming a club ambassador, Pirlo would do a similar role to what Ronaldinho does for Barcelona, and it would likely mean we haven't seen the last of him in Bianconeri colours - as he would play for the Juve legends side that David Trezeguet is in charge of.

But that's not all though, as Pirlo could well be in line for a role in the Italian national team set-up. Azzurri officials want one of their greatest ever players to be with them in Russia for the World Cup next summer, if Gian Piero Ventura's side do overcome Sweden in the two-legged play-off.
Finally, it's common knowledge that Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, who worked with Pirlo in Turin, is a huge admirer and there is talk that he could end up as part of his coaching staff at Chelsea - something that has been reported for a while now.
