Steven Gerrard may have never won the Premier League but when it comes to the Champions League he certainly had the 'stuff' to win it. Now the former midfielder has predicted this season's winners.
To many Steven Gerrard's career will be synonymous for that slip which really is a shame because the Liverpool legend should be remembered for his heroics in the 2005 Champions League more than anything else.
Liverpool have won the Champions League five times in their past, as they like to remind everyone, but there's a good chance they've never done it as dramatically as in 2005. In fact only Manchester United's 1999 win comes close.

Gerrard is well remembered for his performance in Istanbul to drag the Reds from a 3-0 half-time deficit to a penalty shoot-out victory over one of the best side's in recent history in AC Milan.
But his goal against Olympiakos is just as important to that amazing success 12 years ago. That season the former England captain proved he had something special, more than just skill, and it's that kind of magic a team needs to win the Champions League.
Speaking on BT Sport the tv pundit predicted who he thought had it this season saying:
"They put down a real marker with their result last night. I think Man City will win the Champions League."

Considering City's ability to score right now it's no surprise that Gerrard is predicting Pep Guardiola's team to win Europe's elite club competition for the first time, especially as the manager knows what it requires to win.
Do you think Gerrard is right?
