Manchester United players had a jolly old time on Wednesday night beating PSG in Paris in the Champions League and after the match they were joined by Eric Cantona and Sir Alex Ferguson in their celebrations.

Not many people gave Manchester United hope of beating PSG in the Champions League on Wednesday night, never mind doing it by two goals and getting through.

An away trip against a star studded team is difficult enough, having to win by two goals makes it even harder and doing it without 10 first teamers made the feat seem impossible.

However Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team embraced the spirit of United teams of the past, specifically of the Treble season that their manager was involved in, to complete a historic comeback.

After the match Solskjaer was pictured celebrating with his former boss Sir Alex Ferguson and another legendary Old Trafford forward Eric Cantona.

But it wasn't just the manager who caught up with the legends after full time with Chris Smalling revealing, in an interview with Sky Sports, that the celebrations in the changing room including a visit from Sir Alex and Cantona, saying:

"It was [lively in the changing room] - moments like that you've got to savour and take in.

"It was great to see everyone come together, all the board, the owners, and then seeing Eric come through with everyone singing his name, it was just a really good vibe.

"Sir Alex came around and shook everyone's hand, saying congratulations. Eric said a little bit, that he was proud to watch the team play and win like that. Generally happy vibes. [It was] unbelievable."

Reports claimed that Solskjaer had allowed his players to have a drink to celebrate on the plane home to Manchester but Smalling ended those claims saying, "To be honest, we weren't. [Solskjaer] didn't say either way. Andreas [Pereira] and Fred were in the corner playing their music. It was just nice and chilled."

The result was compared to the final in 1999, when United beat Bayern Munich in injury time, but it also had a feel of the semi final from the same season.

United had drawn with Juventus at home in first leg 20 years ago and found themselves 2-0 down in 11 minutes. They got back to 2-2 to put them ahead on away goals, like on Wednesday, but on that occasion they did win the game 2-3 on the night.

Can United go on and win the Champions League as they did two decades ago?
