Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon is a man who knows what he wants and what he doesn't. In the quarter finals he didn't want to face Leicester and now he knows who he wants to avoid in the semis.

To use the word legend when describing Gianluigi Buffon seems almost like a bit of an understatement considering everything the 39 year old has done in his career.

Somehow the one thing that the Italian goalkeeper has never got his mitts on is the Champions League trophy and he's unlikely to have many better chances than this season.

Buffon has only twice before been in the final of Europe's elite club competition, losing to AC Milan in 2003 and Barcelona in 2015.

Now, with the Old Lady back in the semi-finals, Buffon has a great chance to finally break his duck and speaking on Italian TV service Mediaset Premium he revealed who he hopes to avoid in the draw:

"Maybe it's better to meet Monaco or Real, who will spend significant energy in the fight for the league.

"They would rotate less, compared to Atletico, who have a more defined position [in the table] and can manage themselves."

Before the quarter final draw Buffon admitted that the unknown quality to Leicester meant the Italian wanted to avoid the Foxes in the quarters.

Craig Shakespeare's side ended up coming up against Atletico, losing 2-1 on aggregate, and really put up a spirited display.

Atleti will be hoping to avoid another final with cross town rivals Real as the 11 times champions have beaten their neighbours twice in the last three finals.

Buffon won't care who he plays if he manages to win the one trophy to have alluded him!
