Cristiano Ronaldo knows a thing or two about what it means to be the best player on the planet, having won the Ballon d'Or five times but who does he think has the potential to succeed him as the world's best?

Once again Cristiano Ronaldo helped Real Madrid to win the Champions League. Los Blancos became the first side to win the title for three years on the bounce.

It means that the former Manchester United winger is likely to be once again named as the best player in the world, once award season comes around.

But with Ronaldo moving into the twilight of his career, he's keeping an eye on the potential talent rising through the ranks who bid to take his spot as the world's best.

And when asked by a reporter in 2017, Ronaldo named the six players who can succeed him.

"A very good question. I see some with great potential: Asensio, Mbappe, Neymar, Dembele, Hazard, Rashford, and some others. In the next generation there are at least 10 players with very, very great potential," Ronaldo said via The Daily Mail.

Much was expected of Marco Asensio this season and the Spaniard did play a part in Real's third Champions League victory in a row but he maybe didn't live up to all those expectations but there's plenty of time left for him.

Mbappe went on loan from Monaco to PSG for the season and won his second Ligue 1 title in a row aged just 19 as he went from strength to strength. Next season he'll be the most expensive teenager ever and it's no surprise with his talent.

Neymar became the world's most expensive player last summer and is the de facto number one candidate to take over from Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as the best in the world. He may already be in the top three.

Dembele was Neymar's replacement at the Camp Nou but injury got in the way for much of his first season in La Liga but he's still shown glimpses of what he's about.

Ronaldo has also tipped Premier League duo Eden Hazard and Marcus Rashford though the United man didn't have a great season this term.

Will any of the names Ronaldo has put forward become the world's best?
