The Interesting Reason Why PSG Are Not Wearing Their Home Kit Tonight

PSG have confused plenty of fans by turning up to their must win Champions League group game against Liverpool not in their usual home kit. The Ligue 1 champions are all in white instead of their usual blue.

Regular readers of these pages will know just how much we like a good looking kit, or enjoy digging someone out for an utterly atrocious one, so we notice when things aren't as we'd expect in the wardrobe department.

Tonight PSG are taking on Liverpool in the Champions League, PSG need to win as a loss for them couple with a Napoli win over Red Star Belgrade would see them get knocked out.

However very early on in the match plenty of fans were taken by the fact that instead of the game being a blue vs red affair the Ligue 1 champions are actually in white.

Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Angel di Maria aren't wearing their away kit either and there's no kit clash.

PSG are wearing the white kit as part of their partnership with Nike brand Air Jordan. They've designed two kits for them and so far PSG have worn the black version in all four Champions League games but debuted the white tonight.

The Air Jordan collab is part of the deal that PSG have with Nike, who will be making their kits unti at least 2022, and there is a whole collection of clothes by the brand for the French club.

It's not unusual these days for clubs to change their kit even when there isn't a clash of colours but teams changing colours completely is still a little weird, as Twitter reveals.
