Despite being linked with Manchester United, Chelsea and AC Milan, among others, Renato Sanches has completed his transfer to Swansea City with the player opting for a bizarre squad number until the Premier League intervened.

The Portuguese was deemed surplus to requirement by Carlo Ancelotti with a host of clubs keeping tabs on the talented midfielder.

And before the window slammed shut, Sanches completed his transfer to the Premier League side. He joins on a season-long loan from European powerhouse Bayern Munich.

But the Swansea faithfuls will have to wait to see him don the all white kit with the international scene taking center stage.

Yet the club have announced his shirt number ahead of the 2017/18 campaign, and it's fair to say the player has either been handed or chose a bizarre number.

Sanches was originally set to sport the No.85 (!!) shirt at Swansea.

It was his shirt number while at Benfica.

But the English board have rejected Swansea's request, with the club handing him the No.35 shirt.

The 20-year-old rose to prominence in his native Portugal before moving to the German champions despite rampant interest from Manchester United.

Though he's failed to make an impact at the Allianz Arena which has prompted his transfer away.
