Manchester United won the Europa League after beating Ajax 2-0 in Stockholm, tonight, and Jose Mourinho shared a special celebration with his son afterwards.

Paul Pogba opened the scoring in the 18th minute via a strike that deflected off Ajax defender Davinson Sanchez courtesy of a deflected shot from outside of the box after an impressive start.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan doubled United's advantage with a slick finish from a corner-kick in the second half and that was enough to beat Peter Bosz's talented, but inexperienced Ajax, who lacked invention and never looked like breaching the United backline.

Jose Mourinho got his tactics bang on the money, and as soon as the final whistle was blown and another European final was in the bag, the Portuguese shared an emotional embrace with his son Jose Jr.

A special night for the Mourinho family, and it's fair to say that Jose was back to his animated self after securing automatic qualification to the Champions League next term.

The 54-year old also made a bit of managerial history with the success in Stockholm.

The win means that Mourinho is the first manager to win the Champions League as well as the UEFA Cup/Europa League - on multiple occasions, with different club sides.

A UEFA Cup win with Porto got it all under way back in 2003, with Mourinho's side overcoming Celtic in the final.

A memorable Champions League campaign ended in triumph over Monaco in the 2004 final; a feat that prompted Roman Abramovich and Chelsea to hand him the managerial reins at Stamford Bridge.

Mourinho won back-to-back league titles at Stamford Bridge but failed to win the Champions League. He would then go on to win Europe's premier competition as part of a treble-winning season with Inter Milan. A double from striker Diego Milito in the 2010 final against Louis van Gaal's Bayern Munich gave Mourinho his second Champions League winners medal.

And the victory tonight at the Friends Arena, in what was quite possibly the biggest night in the 54-year old's 16-year stint as a manager in the game, means Mourinho has now won the Europa League, the updated version of the UEFA Cup, for a second time.
