Here Are All The Premier League Players One Booking Away From Getting Christmas Off

Complete commitment to the cause...

With the leagues in England having no Christmas break, you really have to applaud the Premier League players who time their yellow cards perfectly and do their best to get the festive season off.

There is still one final round of fixtures before the Christmas period properly kicks in, and there's plenty of players just one yellow from reaching five for the season and being given a one-game ban that would come into play over Christmas time.

Football Ramble have put together a list of who could be having a lovely football-free Christmas, though they have left out a few. The likes of Harry Kane, Vincent Kompany, Fernandinho, Ander Herrera, Dejan Lovren, Jason Puncheon, Alexis Sanchez and Ashley Young are among those sitting on four yellows.

West Brom are the club with the most players on four cautions, with James McClean, Allan Nyom, Claudio Yacob and Jonny Evans all facing suspension if they are carded before the turn of the year, where the bookings refresh.

According to the FA website, there are a total of 29 players walking on thin ice when it comes to yellow cards - with several big-hitters featuring:

Granit Xhaka

Vincent Kompany

Tommy Smith

Steve Cook

Simon Francis

Phil Bardsley

Lewis Dunk

Leroy Sane

Kevin Wimmer

Joe Allen

Jonny Evans

Jason Puncheon

Jan Vertonghen

James McClean

Jack Cork

Idrissa Gueye

Harry Arter

Glenn Murray

Fernandinho

Marcos Rojo

Dejan Lovren

Ashley Young

Ashley Williams

Antonio Rudiger

Anthony Knockaert

Ander Herrera

Allan Nyom

Alexis Sanchez

Of all those on the list, it's Marcos Rojo whose dedication to getting Christmas off is just admirable. He tried his best last season by lunging in two-footed on Idrissa Gueye, but somehow didn't get show a red card.

This season despite only returning to action in November after being sidelined with a knee injury, is now one yellow away from going in the referee's book for a fifth time and having the ability to sit at home eating his burnt toast and enjoying 'Crimbo'.

If you some suspicious-looking yellows from the aforementioned players in this weekend's action, you now know why...
