Jamie Carragher randomly reopened his Twitter beef with Danny Simpson yesterday, and latter has since responded to the sly dig.

The Liverpool legend, always on form on social media, had a war of words with the Leicester City right-back in March after being spotted in an Everton kit when taking part in a defender vs striker battle with Romelu Lukaku at the club's training ground.

But Carragher, out of the blue, saw an opportunity to go after Simpson, again.

He produced the following tweet, which has garnered well over 18,000 Retweets so far.

It's a clear reference to the strong rumours that the Leicester City players stabbed Claudio Ranieri in the back and were responsible for his sacking at the King Power Stadium.

Though the ex-Manchester United player refused to stay quiet, instead sending Carragher a series of Tweets.

So how did the Carragher-Simpson come about?

Carragher was critical of the Leicester City players after their 3-1 win over Liverpool in their first game following the sacking of Ranieri back in February, and that prompted a response from Simpson.

Then came Carragher - making another reference to the change in performance from the Leicester players just days after their manager had been cruelly sacked:

Simpson came back with the following Tweet:

And then came another Carragher response - which we thought was surprisingly tame for his standards:

The Twitter exchange continued throughout the day, with plenty of good shots from both men:

Carragher then called Simpson "one of the worst defenders to win the Premier League" - as things really started to get heated.

Carrager vs. Simpson continues, folks.
