Phil Jones Hilariously Responds To The Idea Of A Manchester United Testimonial

Phil Jones is not far off from a Manchester United testimonial, so how does the 27-year-old defender feel about the prospect of having one?

Phil Jones had a hilarious response when he was asked about the possibility of having a testimonial at Manchester United.

The 27-year-old English defender signed for the Red Devils in 2011 from Blackburn Rovers and is closing in on the ten-year mark at Old Trafford.

Considering the United player penned a new deal last month that would keep him at the club until 2023, Jones should be optimistic about reaching a decade with the Red Devils and having a testimonial, right?

Well, sort of.

While Jones could receive a testimonial like United legends Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Roy Keane, the England international had a brilliant response when he was asked about it.

"I wouldn't go that far, there'd be only my mum and dad who would turn up," he told Goal.

Brilliant, right?

Ole Gunnar Solskjær's arrival in December as caretaker manager has seen a major shift in momentum for the club, with United making it to the quarter-finals of the Champions League and challenging for a spot in the top four of the Premier League.

Jones believes that it won't take long before United come out of their transition period.

"When I've been asked that question in the past and we were going through a transition phase I always used to say, 'I don't think we're far,' but I genuinely don't think we're far away," he explained.

"I think we've got a really good squad, we've got exciting players coming through, we've got a good mix of youth and experience and you can see, the way we're playing, teams fear us again, don't want to play us again and slowly but surely we're getting back to our best.

"We're still learning, we're still improving but we'll get there."

Will United finish in the top four this season?

Let us know in the comments.
