Harry Maguire will soon be in contention for the World Cup Golden Ball and Ballon d'Or which is a complete removal from the reality of how he turned up to his first England training camp.

It's quite incredible that this time last year Harry Maguire had never set foot on a football pitch for England and now he is one of the most important players in Gareth Southgate's side that is on the cusp of a World Cup final.

In fact a year before the World Cup had kicked off Maguire had been relegated with Hull City following his first full season in the Premier League, he'd made three appearances in Hull's previous stint in the top tier.

The former Sheffield United centre back then moved to Leicester City for an initial £12 million and having impressed with Hull and in his first few games with the Foxes he earned a call up to the England squad for the first games international break of the season.

The call up was for the World Cup qualifiers against Slovenia and Malta and though he failed to make the squads for either game he did earn notoriety.

Maguire turned up to the England camp with his clothes in a bin bag much to the delight of everyone on social media:

After the moment he first landed at an England camp went viral he admitted his mum had text him to tell him off, saying, "I've seen that on Twitter with the bags - it was just full of boots and shin pads and dirty stuff, which I'll give the kit man. I'll try and get some in future.

"My Mum mentioned it. She gave me a text later on saying what's with the bags? It was just a bit of fun.

"I try my best to keep my feet on the floor and stay humble and let my ability do the talking."

Maguire had to wait for the last qualification game against Lithuania till he got his debut and Michael Keane had been considered ahead of him in the queue at the time.

In August he was carrying a bin bag but soon he'll have his hands on the Ballon d'Or, right?!
